While you wait on assistance

How a place is held while your assistance is pending

State child care assistance can take weeks to come through. This is what we do while you wait.

  1. 01

Step 1: Tell us the day you apply

Call, stop by or use the form as soon as you send in your application. We write down your child's age, the room and the shift you need.

  2. 02

Step 2: We hold a place

We hold a place in the room for as long as we can, which depends on who else is waiting that month. Ludie tells you how long, in writing, so you can plan around it.

  3. 03

Step 3: Bring us the state's letter

When the letter comes, bring it in. We work out which shift it covers and confirm your child's first day.

  4. 04

Step 4: If the answer is late or no

Call Ludie before the hold runs out. We talk about other shifts and, if there's a waitlist, where you stand.

What we can and can't promise

We can't promise a place while a decision is pending. Places in each room change through the year, and we offer them in the order families joined the list.

We can promise to tell you where you stand, to explain each step of the application with you, and to call you when a place opens.

Whether assistance is open changes through the year, so ask us this month.

Questions about assistance

Do you take state child care assistance?

Whether assistance is open changes through the year, so call and ask us this month. We help with the application and tell you what to bring.

What should I bring?

Your application or the state's letter, your child's age and the shift you need. If you don't have the letter yet, call us anyway.

Can my child start before the state decides?

Sometimes. It depends on whether the room and shift have a place that month. Call us the day you apply and Ludie tells you.

What happens if there is a waitlist?

We put you on it and tell you where you stand. Offers go out by phone, in the order families joined.
