A day here

From the first arrival to the last pickup

Your child comes on the early, day or late shift.

  1. 01
    Early morning

    Step 1: Doors open

The first teachers unlock the door at 5 a.m. Children come in sleepy, with a coat on, and go to a quiet corner or the breakfast table.

  2. 02
    Early morning

    Step 2: Breakfast

Breakfast comes from our kitchen and is on the table when the first children arrive. Babies eat on their own schedule.

  3. 03
    Morning

    Step 3: Play and learning

Blocks, paint, stories, songs and a lot of talking. Each room has its own rhythm, and a teacher sits at every table.

  4. 04
    Late morning

    Step 4: Outside

We go out to the fenced yard most days. When it is too hot or wet, we move the play to the big room.

  5. 05
    Midday

    Step 5: Lunch and rest

Lunch is at the table together. After lunch, babies go to their cribs and older children rest on cots or look at books.

  6. 06
    Afternoon to evening

    Step 6: Afternoon and supper

Snack, art and the yard again. The late shift also eats supper with us, then settles into quiet play until pickup.

The early shift

A quiet start before the day begins

Early-shift children come in when it is still dark in winter. A teacher meets you at the door, takes the bag and the coat, and gets your child settled with breakfast before the room fills up.

If your child needs a few minutes of quiet before the day starts, tell us and we make a corner for it.

  • Breakfast on the table

  • Quiet corners and floor play

The late shift

Supper, the yard and quiet play

Late-shift children arrive for lunch, rest after, and have the afternoon in the yard and the art room. Supper is at the table with the teachers, and the last hour is quiet play and stories while parents finish their shifts.

If your shift runs late, tell us at the front desk and we plan the pickup with you.

  • Lunch, rest and the yard

  • Supper from our kitchen
